How to use LostaFound

Contact admin and manage support messages

  1. Choose Contact admin in the website or app footer. Guests and signed-in members can send their name, contact email, category, subject and message. Do not send passwords, payment credentials or identity documents. This form saves a private inbox message and does not automatically send email. After a successful submission, a separate Message sent page replaces the form. You can return home or choose Send another message. Refreshing the confirmation does not resend the message. It is not an emergency service; a reply is not guaranteed.
  2. Administrators see an unread notice on the dashboard and Admin inbox navigation link. Open Admin > Admin inbox to see the message table immediately. Expand Search, filter and sort messages when needed; its summary indicates an active filter and the row count identifies Inbox or Trash. The highlighted Admin inbox link jumps to the table without reloading. Search subject, message text, internal note, sender name/email or message ID. Blank search matches all messages in the selected filters. Categories are General, Account/sign-in, Lost/found post, Safety/abuse/privacy, Website/app problem, Payment question and Feedback/suggestion. These are separate from item categories.
  3. Filter by category, unread/read/resolved status and Inbox/Trash/All. Sort by received time, last update, category, subject, sender or status in either direction. Choose 1–100 rows per page, default 25; pagination retains the selected filters and sort. Click a subject or View message to read its full text. Open admin inbox is a dashboard entry, not a button inside the inbox itself. Previous message and Next message follow the current matching results and sort order across pages; Back to inbox retains your filters, rows per page and original page. Disabled controls indicate the first or last match. Results are live, not a frozen snapshot: reading removes entries from the Unread filter, and status/updated-time sorting can change as messages are handled. Opening an unread message automatically marks it read for the shared admin inbox. Hidden tabs wait until viewed; resolved and trashed messages keep their status.
  4. The message workspace shows the original message and an open Reply by email composer first. Manage message is beside them on wider screens and below on phones. Use Save changes for category, status and internal note; this does not send email. Expand Move to Trash separately for deletion, or Message details for the ID and timestamps. Check the sender-supplied recipient address (it is not verified), edit the subject, type your reply, confirm the recipient and press Send email reply. The configured LostaFound email service sends it, not your personal mail app. Delivery acceptance does not guarantee inbox delivery. Open Reply history below the composer to review saved subject, full reply, recipient, sending administrator, UTC times and status. History persists after sign-out, feature pauses and recoverable Trash; expand a reply to read it, and use Older/Newer replies for ten-row pages. Accepted means provider acceptance, not inbox delivery. Unconfirmed may mean timeout or an interrupted send; check provider events before composing another copy. Replies sent before this feature and unsent drafts cannot be recovered here. A sender can follow up through Contact admin. Features > Admin email replies pauses sending; restore a trashed message before replying. Admins can reassign category, change status and save an internal note. Saving Unread returns to the inbox so it stays unread until its next open. Notes and unread state are shared among authorized inbox administrators, not sent to the visitor. Treat sender-provided contact details and text as unverified. Saving an old browser tab is rejected if another admin has already updated the message.
  5. Delete to Trash requires confirmation and hides the message from the normal inbox and unread count. Select Trash to find it and Restore message to recover its body, category, status and notes. No permanent-delete button is provided. A full administrator can grant Contact admin inbox permission under Roles; unrelated limited roles cannot read these messages. Features can pause new contact submissions without disabling the existing inbox.
