Survival tools
Find North, South, East and West without internet. No sign-in or location sharing is needed.
Offline compass
Hold your phone flat, with the top edge pointing ahead. Browser compass readings require portrait orientation. Keep away from magnets, vehicles and metal objects.

Compass is stopped. Start to check your phone’s sensors.
The web compass uses your browser’s north reference. On iPhone it uses magnetic north. True north can differ; use the map’s local magnetic declination. Android’s native compass includes an optional declination adjustment. If readings jump, move away from interference and calibrate as your phone manufacturer recommends.
Directions without a sensor
Learn the cardinal directions, use a map and physical compass, find North with Polaris, and understand what the Sun can tell you.
